Cote d’Ivoire 2008

Dear Friends and Family,

Two-thousand and eight has been a very exciting and stretching year so far. I am a junior in Creighton University’s School of Nursing and am in the midst of my clinical rotations in several Omaha hospitals which is taking up most of my free time. I am also currently involved with Christ Community Church’s children’s ministry, college ministry called “8:08,” and enjoy leading a small group on Creighton’s campus.

I have been given the opportunity to travel with our college ministry to Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa this summer. It is an exciting opportunity as our church is connected with the national church there through Mike and Sue Farho’s faithful ministry. Their ministry is mainly focused on the Lebanese population that lives in Cote d’Ivoire.

We will be traveling on May 14th to Cote d’Ivoire and returning on the 30th. While we are there we will be working with Mike and Sue Farho in several capacities.

1. Painting, praying and visiting at the West Africa Theological Seminary

2. A work project, praying, visiting and Jesus film showing at a small village

3. A work project and friendship activities at a girls orphanage

Lastly we will be doing marketplace ministry by working with people currently working in the field we are studying. In my case Mike is setting up contacts in the medical community.

Several prayer requests as we prepare and go would be:

  • that God would be preparing our way and those who we will be serving
  • that God will be preparing out hearts and that we would be open to His leading
  • Unity within the team
  • Safety during travel and while we are in country

While I am excited about this opportunity that God has given me I am also very humbled and a bit scared. I have been working through trusting God with all aspects of my life; as I find it very easy think that I can live life on my own. However, I quickly find through crisis after crisis that He is the only person who I can trust for my salvation and strength to live day to day. (Galatians 2:20-21) In this all God has been stretching me in the way of my finances as well. This trip will cost around 3,000 dollars which I am trusting God to provide. Currently I have a little over 1,400 dollars raised. I would like to ask you to pray about giving money towards this trip. The tax and giving information is enclosed.

I would love to be in contact with you and give you updates as I prepare and travel to Cote d’Ivoire. If you would like to be a part of this, email me at davidbebee@creighton.edu or check out ecuadorkid.blogspot.com for pictures and reports!

Thank you in advance for your support.

In Christ,

David Bebee
