The MAF Quito Hanger. Notice the runway in the background. that is definitely Marsucrial International Airpuerto(Quito's).

so this morning i went with fred to MAF's office here in Quito and spent my morning organizing their store room and airplane repair stuff. then we went out to lunch which cost 2 dollars for soup, steak, rice, some sort of grain, and dessert. it was really good. we also had tomate del arbol (tomato of the tree) juice which is also very tasty. then we drove around quito looking for a van for MAF to buy to transport people around ecuador. nothing else is really new.

Friday, i believe, i am going to the beach with a highschool group for a week as a sponsor. when we get back the schmidts and i are going to go to shell for a bit as well. i will keep you up dated.

June 8th 2007

Hey!

I had a good day today. ummmm. i got up and helped fred do some work around the house. we built a shelf for their laundry room and i scaped loose paint off of one of their walls in their garage which will need to be repainted during my stay. then we had lunch and desi and i went to the mall. it was a good time, and really interesting. most of the food is cheaper here except for the imported stuff, like canned goods which are like 2 times the price of those in the US. i also looked around in the mall. im not really sure how the ecuadorians afford to shop at the mall, i dont think i could! ha! desi says that since they have switched over to the dollar they are able to get credit cards and many of them are really in debt because they dont have the realization that they have to pay it back. (so in effect they have become good little consumers as we are in the US!!!)

Anyways, while kyle went out with his friends, jake, another kid who is staying with the schmidts, went bowling with some other kids from the alliance academy which was fun. we also went out for some baskin robins ice cream. then we walked around quito for a bit and dropped the girl who was with us off at her house before jake and i went home.

oh man. yawn.

tomorrow is the Ramate, or big garage sale, that the families of kids at the alliance academy put on. all the families have tables in a covered basketball court and sell their stuff. this should be interesting because of all the people who will be showing up.

anyways..... thats all i got.

Support letter

Hi Everyone!

My year of 2007 has been going well and the rest of the year is looking great! School wise, I am currently in the 2nd semester of my sophomore year at Creighton University school of Nursing. The classes are getting a bit harder, but I am eagerly anticipating next semester because we start clinicals and actually work with patients.

I have also been involved with my church, Christ Community Church. I am currently leading a high school freshman small group on Sunday nights which has given me the great occasion to build into young men’s lives. Right now we are reading through Proverbs which has been really challenging. Also, I am co leading a college small group on Thursday evenings. God has allowed me to minister though acting and art as well through church. With a month of school left I am trying to plan my summer and I thought I would just write a note to my family and friends letting them know of the exciting developments! I am going out of country!

I will be traveling to Quito, Ecuador on the morning of 6th of June and staying there for 6 weeks, until July 18th! I will be staying with Fred and Desi Schmidt who are affiliated with Mission Aviation Fellowship. They are family friends and invited me to come down when they visited Omaha last summer. I have already bought my tickets and am working out different opportunities to serve God while I’m down there. While many of the exact details are up in the air, I am in contact with an organization that runs an orphanage in Quito, Ecuador. I am also talking with Mrs. Schmidt about the opportunity to work with a youth camp. I am also hoping that during my stay I will be able to bless the Schmidts by helping out with painting and other work.

I have set up my site so that it does not require you to sign up for anything to read or post comments, so feel free to do so!) Also, feel free to give me a call or email me with any questions or if you would like to get involved further

Lastly, I would ask that you would be praying for me as I prepare for this trip, for the ways God will use me, and how He will work in my life. I greatly appreciate your prayers both during and leading up to the trip. Thank you in advance
.

End of Easter Break..... waiting for the world to begin again

hey

im just coming to the end of my easter break, one great reason to go to a catholic/christian school.... you get easter break and spring break. this week was great. it was really tough with my 2 papers and test. i was able to finish my papers in time and get some studying done for the test, so now i am basically free till the end of the semester which comes the first week of may with finals. then it is one month till i board a jet plane on june 6th at 730am and start my journey across the united states to atlanta and miami and then over the ocean to ecuador for 6 weeks. after which time i will board another plane on the 18th of July and come back to the good old u s of a.

anyways... i bought my tickets to ecuador saturday.... $850... round trip... now i have really committed to going... which in some ways is really exciting... and in other ways really scary. what have i gotten my self into? but i just have to trust God now and know that he will put me in the right places and give me the strength to do what he asks me to. i also lined up my appointment to get all the medications i might need while i am in country.

i have really been realizing all the great opportunities he has been giving me to build into other peoples lives and it is really exciting. i am leading a couple small groups and have had the opportunity to, at least, give people the chance to grow in their relationship with God, which is a great honor and responsibility.

as for my plans while i am down in ecuador i am in contact with an orphanage and the schmidts are also lining up other ways i can help during my stay, which may include building maintenance and working at a youth camp/retreat.

i appreciate and covet your prayers. if you would like to help in any way go ahead and email me and we can talk.

Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
